Influence of cubic nonlinearity on the dispersion relation for long waves on a water surface

The influence of cubic nonlinearity on the dispersion relation for long waves on a water surface is analyzed. In the long wavelength limit, it is shown that the dispersion relation is not affected by the cubic terms. The results are compared with the dispersion relation for stationary solutions to the Korteweg—de Vries equation.     

一阶自回归模型参数变点的假设检验

本文讨论一阶自回归模型自回归参数$\phi$的变点问题. 对于一阶自回归模型, 在模型的白噪声序列的方差$\sigma^2$已知和未知的条件下, 利用最大似然方法, 我们分别讨论了模型自回归参数$\phi$的Abrupt Change-Point 和Gradual Change-Point的检测问题.     

无穷方差厚尾过程变点的小波估计

研究随机设计下噪声为厚尾随机变量时非参数函数中的变点估计问题.首先,通过设计变换将随机设计转化为等间距固定设计,进而利用小波方法估计变换后的变点的位置,再利用逆设计变换求得随机设计下变点位置的估计,并给出估计的收敛速度.模拟研究结果说明对于无穷方差厚尾过程中的变点估计问题小波方法是有效的.     

Epidemic dynamics in a heterogeneous incompletely isolated population with allowance for seasonal variations in the infection rate

Mathematical parasite-host models are generalized to the case when the population members differ in susceptibility and contagiousness, there is an external source of infection, and the model parameters depend periodically (seasonally) on time. The model is proved to have a periodic solution that is unique and exponentially stable for sufficiently small periodic oscillations of the coefficients.     

Approximation of finite-section equations by piecewise constant functions

The problem is studied of reducing the amount of discrete information required for achieving a prescribed accuracy of solving Fredholm integral equations of the first kind on a half-line. The equations are solved by the finite-section method combined with piecewise constant interpolation of the kernel and the right-hand side at uniform grid points. The approximating properties of the discretization schemes are examined, and the corresponding computational costs are analyzed.

The first return time properties of an irrational rotation

If an ergodic system has positive entropy, then the Shannon-McMillan-Breiman theorem provides a relationship between the entropy and the size of an atom of the iterated partition. The system also has Ornstein-Weiss' first return time property, which offers a method of computing the entropy via an orbit. We consider irrational rotations which are the simplest model of zero entropy. We prove that almost every irrational rotation has the analogous properties if properly normalized. However there are some irrational rotations that exhibit different behavior.
